The principal objective of the Network is to support the delivery of the Cancer Reform Strategy. Specifically, the Network has a programme of service development for all aspects of cancer including prevention, screening/risk-management, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, genetics, research, supportive and specialist palliative care.
The Network structures enable the PCTs to make collective decisions about services provided for populations larger than an individual PCT and together with Provider Trusts monitor their performance.
